How to Find Your Perfect Shoe Size
By Daily Laces June 28, 2026
The right size is the difference between a shoe you love and one that lives in the closet. Here's how to nail your fit the first time.
1. Measure your feet the right way
Feet change over time, so measure before every big purchase. Stand on a sheet of paper against a wall, mark your longest toe, and measure from the wall to the mark in centimeters. Measure both feet in the late afternoon — feet swell during the day — and always go with the larger foot.
2. Match your measurement to a size chart
Once you have your length in centimeters, match it to our full US / UK / EU / CM conversion charts on the Size Guide. Every product page also has a “Size guide” link right above the size picker.
3. Know how your brand runs
Not all brands size the same. A few we get asked about most:
- adidas Ultraboost runs small — size up a half.
- Birkenstock runs large — size down a half.
- Converse Chuck Taylor runs large — size down a half.
4. Consider the shoe type
For running shoes and sneakers, leave about a thumb's width at the toe and size up if you're between sizes. For boots and dress shoes, a snugger fit is normal — size down if you're on the fence.
